Managing a Smooth Transition
Sovereign is pleased to announce its new contract to deliver managed IT services for housing association, Adullam Homes. Founded in 1972, Adullam Homes has been a longstanding provider of UK housing across the Midlands and North West, delivering a variety of high quality accommodation to over 1,000 people in the UK at any one time.
Adullam came to Sovereign with a pressing requirement to outsource its core IT infrastructure services. The aim of this was to improve the resilience of its IT systems. Having over 15 years’ experience within the social housing market and owning a dedicated ISO27001:2013 certified data centre, Sovereign believed it would be an ideal partner for delivering additional IT support to assist Adullam's in-house IT team.
After Sovereign carried out an extensive IT Healthcheck, Adullam and DTL (an independent social housing management consultancy) carried our a review of where the housing association wanted to get to and what was needed from IT to achieve this.
After this extensive process, Sovereign was engaged to deliver the following services delivered in a phased approach to minimise disruption:
- Back-up as a Service (BaaS) and Disaster Recovery as a Service (DraaS)
- Network access provision via VPN/MPLS to enable Adullam’s users access to the environment
- Hosting of Adullam’s server environment in Sovereign’s Tier III designed data centre, Metro Point on its Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) platform.
- Remote 3rd Line provision to support business-as-usual
- IT service desk support
- Operational management
The initial phase of the transition saw the implementation of BaaS and DRaaS to provide Adullam with a robust business continuity service as well as the provision of proactive operational management to ensure the health of its IT environment was monitored daily and maintained a standard that would ensure the business had assurances its environment was managed and fit for purpose.
The last phase of the transition is to provide resilient connectivity into Sovereign's primary and backup data centre’s. Then, the final stage being a full migration onto Sovereign's IaaS platform by the end of August.
Alex Riddick, Client Services Director concludes, ‘ Having completed the due diligence exercise, knowing Adullam - its current position and needs means that we are now in a position to ensure our clients' experience is a smooth one - from transition through to the management support we are providing. We are looking forward to working with the in-house team and working as an extension to their complete IT service.’
